AdvilCLASS and MECHANISM of Action Generic Advil is in a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

What is Generic Advil PRESCRIBED For? Generic Advil is used to treat headaches, muscle aches, backaches, dental pain, menstrual cramps, arthritis, or athletic injuries. This medication is also used to reduce fever and to relieve minor aches and pain due to the common cold or flu.
How Should I Take Generic Advil? Take this medication by mouth with a full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of water after meal or take it with food, milk, or an antacid. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking this drug.
Store Generic Advil at room temperature away from light and moisture. Keep this and all other medicines away from children and pets. What are the CONTRAINDICATIONS for taking Generic Advil? Generic Advil should not be taken by those who have treatment of perioperative pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft surgery; patients who have experienced asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs; hypersensitivity to any component of the product.
What Happens if I MISS A DOSE? Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the medicine at your next regularly scheduled time. Do not take double doses.
What happens if I OVERDOSE? Symptoms of the overdose with Generic Advil are the following: acute renal failure, apnea, cyanosis, drowsiness, epigastric pain, GI irritation/bleeding, lethargy, stomach pain, dizziness, feeling restless or nervous, blurred vision, sweating, breathing problems, metabolic acidosis, nausea, tinnitus, vomiting.
Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of Generic Advil. What are the possible SIDE EFFECTS of Generic Advil? If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Generic Advil and contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical treatment: chest pain, weakness, shortness of breath, slurred speech, problems with vision or balance; black, bloody, or tarry stools, coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds; fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat; severe dizziness, anxiety, restless feeling, or nervousness; easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; increased blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, trouble concentrating, chest pain, numbness, seizure); urinating less than usual or not at all; skin rash, bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness; or fever, headache, neck stiffness, chills, increased sensitivity to light, purple spots on the skin, and/or seizure (convulsions).
If you experience any of the following less serious side effects continue taking Generic Advil and talk to your doctor: upset stomach, nausea, heartburn, diarrhea, constipation; bloating, gas, loss of appetite; warmth, tingling, or redness under your skin; dizziness, headache, feeling excited or restless; sleep problems (insomnia); skin itching or rash; or ringing in your ears. What other drugs can INTERACT with Generic Advil? The following should not be used along with Generic Advil: ACE inhibitors, Aspirin and medications containing Aspirin, such as cold remedies, Beta-blockers, Digoxin, Diuretics, Lithium, Methotrexate, Warfarin, steroids, antidepressants.
