Generic Alkeran may cause the following side effects: hair loss; nausea; diarrhea; vomiting; tiredness.

If you experience any of the following serious side effects contact your doctor immediately: severe allergic reactions; black, tarry stools; blood in urine or stools; diarrhea; fatigue; fever or chills; lower back or side pain; persistent cough; persistent nausea or vomiting; sore throat; sores on the mouth or lips; stomach pain; irregular or absent menstrual periods; yellowing eyes and skin; joint pain; swollen feet or lower legs; unusual bruising or bleeding; unusual lumps or growths; weight loss.

This medication can affect fertility (your ability to have children), whether you are a man or a woman.

Do not use Generic Alkeran if you use one of the following drugs: Cisplatin, Carmustine (BCNU), Cyclosporine, or Nalidixic Acid.

Use an effective form of birth control while you are taking Generic Alkeran.
