Generic Cardizem is in a class of medications called calcium-channel blockers. It works by relaxing the blood vessels so the heart does not have to pump as hard. It also increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.

What is Generic Cardizem PRESCRIBED For?
Generic Cardizem is used to treat high blood pressure and to control chest pain (angina), sometimes to treat Raynaud's syndrome.
How Should I Take Generic Cardizem?
Take Generic Cardizem three or four times a day on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal. Swallow the pills whole, do not split, chew, or crush them.

What are the CONTRAINDICATIONS for taking Generic Cardizem?
Generic Cardizem is contraindicated to patients with allergy to any of its ingredients, heart, liver, or kidney disease; pregnant or breast-feeding women.
What Happens if I MISS A DOSE?
Take the missed dose of Generic Cardizem as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.
What happens if I OVERDOSE?
Symptoms of Generic Cardizem overdose may include slow heartbeat, weakness, chest pain, shortness of breath, feeling light-headed, or fainting. If the overdose is suspected, contact your doctor or emergency room immediately.
What are the possible SIDE EFFECTS of Generic Cardizem?
Generic Cardizem may cause the following side effects: dizziness or lightheadedness, flushing, headache, excessive tiredness, slower heartbeat, upset stomach, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, dry mouth, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, arms, or legs, difficulty breathing or swallowing, fainting, rash, yellowing of the skin or eyes, fever.

Generic Cardizem may interact with the following: amiodarone, cimetidine, cyclosporine, dexamethasone, digoxin, lovastatin, midazolam or triazolam, rifampin or rifabutin, St. John's wort, ciprofloxacin, griseofulvin, metronidazole, azithromycin, clarithromycin, erythromycin, itraconazole, ketoconazole; citalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, sertraline; amprenavir, delavirdine, indinavir, nelfinavir, nevirapine, ritonavir, or saquinavir; carbamazepine, phenobarbital; atenolol, carvedilol, metoprolol, nadolol, propranolol, sotalol, timolol or other antibiotics, antidepressants, HIV /AIDS medicine, beta-blockers.
