Generic Cefdil is a member of the family of antibiotics known as cephalosporins. It works by inhibitting mucopeptide synthesis in bacterial cell wall. Without a cell wall, bacteria are vulnerable and ultimately perish.
Active Ingredients: cefdinir.
Inactive Ingredients: carboxymethylcellulose calcium, NF; polyoxyl 40 stearate, NF; and magnesium stearate, NF. The capsule shells contain FD&C Blue #1; FD&C Red #40; D&C Red #28; titanium dioxide, NF; gelatin, NF; silicon dioxide, NF; and sodium lauryl sulfate, NF.

Generic Cefdil is used for treating mild to moderate infections caused by certain bacteria such as bronchitis, middle ear infection (otitis media), sinus infection (sinusitis), pneumonia, skin infection (cellulitis), tonsillitis, throat infection.
How Should I Take Generic Cefdil?
Take Generic Cefdil with or without food with a full glass of water. Do not crush, crew or cut the capsule. Swallow it the whole. It is specially formulated to release the medication slowly in the body.

Generic Cefdil is contraindicated to patients who have allergy to any of its ingredients, will be receiving or have recently received a live typhoid vaccine, have a blood clotting disorder, kidney problems, seizures, diabetes, or stomach or bowel problems, pregnant or breast-feeding women.
What Happens if I MISS A DOSE?
If you miss a dose of Generic Cefdil, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take double doses.

Symptoms of Generic Cefdil overdose may include diarrhea; seizures; severe nausea; stomach pain; vomiting.

Generic Cefdil may interact with the following: probenecid, live typhoid vaccine, antacids, iron supplements, multivitamins containing iron.
