DitropanCLASS and MECHANISM of Action Generic "Ditropan" works by relaxing the involuntary muscle that is found in the wall of the bladder. The muscle in the wall of the bladder is called the detrusor muscle. It can sometimes contract in uncontrollable spasms, and this is often referred to as having an overactive or unstable bladder. The overactive detrusor muscle can cause an increase in the number of times you need to pass urine, uncontrollable urges to pass urine, or involuntary leakage of urine (urinary incontinence).

How Should I Take Generic "Ditropan"? The recommended starting dose of Generic "Ditropan" is 5 mg once daily. Dosage may be adjusted in 5-mg increments to achieve a balance of efficacy and tolerability (up to a maximum of 30 mg/day). In general, dosage adjustment may proceed at approximately weekly intervals.
Keep your Generic "Ditropan" Tablets out of the reach and sight of children. Do not store above 30°C. Do not take this medicine after the month shown on the pack. What are the CONTRAINDICATIONS for taking Generic "Ditropan"? Do not take Generic "Ditropan" Tablets if you: are hypersensitive (allergic) to oxybutynin or any of the ingredients of Generic "Ditropan"; have myasthenia gravis; suffer with glaucoma (high pressure and pain in the eyes); have severe ulcerative colitis or toxic megacolon; have diseases of the intestine (gut) including obstructions of the bowel; have a blocked urinary tract causing a poor flow of urine.
What Happens if I MISS A DOSE? If you forget to take a dose at the right time, take it as soon as you remember, then go on as before. However you must take care not to take two doses at the same time.
What happens if I OVERDOSE? An overdose of this medicine may be harmful. If you or someone else, have taken too much of your medicine tell your doctor or pharmacist, or go to the nearest hospital casualty department immediately.

It is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist what medicines you are already taking, including those bought without a prescription and herbal medicines, before you start treatment with this medicine. There may be an increased risk of side effects such as dry mouth, blurred vision, drowsiness, constipation and difficulty passing urine, if this medicine is taken with other medicines that have anticholinergic effects, such as the following: amantadine; anticholinergic medicines for Parkinson's symptoms, eg procyclidine, orphenadrine, trihexiphenidyl (benzhexol); antihistamines, eg brompheniramine, chlorphenamine; antipsychotic medicines, eg haloperidol, chlorpromazine, clozapine; antispasmodic medicines, eg hyoscine, atropine; disopyramide; other anticholinergic medicines for urinary incontinence; tricyclic antidepressants, eg amitriptyline, clomipramine. This medicine may oppose the effects of medicines that have cholinergic effects, such as the following: donepezil, galantamine or rivastigmine used to treat Alzheimer's disease; neostigmine; distigmine; pyridostigmine. Additional Information Patients should be informed that heat prostration (fever and heat stroke due to decreased sweating) can occur when anticholinergics such as Generic "Ditropan" are administered in the presence of high environmental temperature. Because anticholinergic agents such as Generic "Ditropan" may produce drowsiness (somnolence) or blurred vision, patients should be advised to exercise caution.
Patients should be informed that alcohol may enhance the drowsiness caused by anticholinergic agents such as Generic "Ditropan". | |||||
