FlomaxCLASS and MECHANISM of Action Generic "Flomax" belongs to the category of drugs known as alpha adrenergic blockers. Alpha adrenergic blockers are medicines used to widen and relax the path of blood and clears up blood vessels causing the blood to pass more easily.

What is Generic "Flomax" PRESCRIBED For? Generic "Flomax" is indicated for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Generic "Flomax" is not indicated for the treatment of hypertension.
How Should I Take Generic "Flomax"? Adults: 0.4 mg once daily ~30 minutes after the same meal each day; dose may be increased after 2-4 weeks to 0.8 mg once daily in patients who fail to respond.
For those patients who fail to respond to the 0.4 mg dose after two to four weeks of dosing, the dose of Generic "Flomax" can be increased to 0.8 mg once daily. If Generic "Flomax" administration is discontinued or interrupted for several days at either the 0.4 mg or 0.8 mg dose, therapy should be started again with the 0.4 mg once daily dose. What are the CONTRAINDICATIONS for taking Generic "Flomax"? Generic "Flomax" is contraindicated in patients known to be hypersensitive to tamsulosin or any component of Generic "Flomax".
What Happens if I MISS A DOSE? It is strongly advised that double doses of this medication be avoided. However, if you miss a dose and it is many hours away from the next one, you may take that missed dose. But if the next dose is near enough, better forego that missed dose and proceed with the next. If multiple doses are missed, consult with your doctor first before resuming your intake of Generic "Flomax".
What happens if I OVERDOSE? The symptoms of Generic "Flomax" overdose may be characterized by: Weakness; Dizziness; Fainting spells; Weak and fast pulse; Cold and clammy skin; Comatose; Loss of conscious thought
