Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride cream and lotion are usually used to treat only scabies infestation. Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride shampoo is used to treat only lice infestations. Active Ingredients: lindane Inactive Ingredients: 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol; Carrageenan, NF; Cetyl Alcohol, NF; Fragrance; Glyceryl Monostearate, NF; Methylparaben, NF; Propylene Glycol, USP; Propylparaben, NF; Purified Water, USP; Stearic Acid, NE and Trolamine, NF. What is Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride PRESCRIBED For? Because post-treatment pruritus is common and may lead to misuse, Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride lotion is indicated only for the treatment of patients infested with Sarcoptes scabiei (scabies) who have either failed to respond to adequate doses, or are intolerant of other approved therapies. Reinfestation should be considered carefully before attributing the posttreatment presence of ectoparasites to a failure of response to adequate doses of other approved therapies.
How Should I Take Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride"? Be sure to learn all the instructions for use from your doctor or pharmacist, and read the instructions and Medication Guide carefully before using this medication. Shake the lotion well before using. If you are applying Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride to another person, wear disposable gloves (made of nitrile, latex with neoprene, or sheer vinyl). Do not use natural latex gloves because more Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride can penetrate that type of glove. Do not apply to eyes, mucous membranes (e.g., inside the nose or mouth), and do not take by mouth. If Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride gets in the eyes, rinse eyes with water immediately and seek immediate medical attention if a burning sensation continues. Make sure your skin is clean and does not have other lotions, creams, or oils on it. Oils and lotions can increase the absorption of Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride through your skin and into your bloodstream, which increases the risk of serious side effects. Wait for at least one hour after bathing/showering before you put Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride lotion on your skin. Wet or warm skin can also increase the absorption of Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride into your bloodstream. Store at room temperature, 59 to 86 degrees F, (15 to 30 degrees C). Do not store in the bathroom. Do not freeze. Keep all medicines away from children and pets. What are the CONTRAINDICATIONS for taking Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride? This medication should not be used if you have certain medical conditions. Before using this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: a poorly-controlled seizure disorder. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: other skin conditions (e.g., psoriasis, dermatitis), broken/crusted skin, HIV infection, history of serious head injury, history of seizures, brain tumors, severe liver disease (cirrhosis), alcohol abuse, sudden stopping of regular alcohol or sedative use, any allergies. This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit intake of alcoholic beverages. Do not apply Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride lotion to others while you are pregnant, unless it is absolutely necessary and you have discussed it with your doctor.
What Happens if I MISS A DOSE? This medicine is used as needed.
What happens if I OVERDOSE? If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, restlessness, unsteadiness, seizures, irregular heartbeat, and bloody urine.
What are the possible SIDE EFFECTS of Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride? This medication may cause a rash, stinging, burning or redness of skin. Inform your doctor promptly if these symptoms persist or worsen. Tell your doctor immediately if any of the following unlikely but serious side effects occur: vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, seizures. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
What other drugs can INTERACT with Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride? Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription products you may use. Do not use other creams, lotions, ointments or oils while using this medication. Also report the use of drugs which might increase seizure risk (decrease seizure threshold) when combined with Generic Gamma Benzene Hexachloride such as phenothiazines (e.g., thioridazine), tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline), isoniazid (INH), or theophylline, among others. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for details. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Additional Information Do not share this medication with others. Because scabies can be transferred from one person to another, examine all family members and close contacts. Wash all recently worn or used clothing, towels and bed linens in very hot water. This medication is used to treat current scabies mite infestation only. It cannot be used to prevent future infestation.
