Generic Imodium is a medication that is used for the relief of acute diarrhea and the management of chronic diarrhea in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis). The effectiveness of Generic Imodium is comparable to another anti-diarrheal, diphenoxylate (Lomotil). Generic Imodium reduces diarrhea by slowing the forward propulsion of intestinal contents by the intestinal muscles. Although Generic Imodium is related chemically to narcotics such as morphine, it does not have any of the narcotics pain- relieving effects even at high doses.

- Do not use Generic Imodium if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in Generic Imodium
- you have stomach pain without diarrhea
- you have constipation, stomach bloating, or bloody stools
- the patient is a child younger than 2 years (24 months) old
What Happens if I MISS A DOSE?
If you miss a dose of Generic Imodium and are taking it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
