CLASS and MECHANISM of Action

Generic Kerlone is a beta-adrenergic blocking agent. It works by slowing down the heart and reducing blood pressure, which helps it pump more efficiently and reduces the workload on the heart. Do not use Generic Kerlone if you are allergic to any ingredient in Generic Kerlone; you have a very slow heartbeat, heart block, uncontrolled heart failure, shock caused by heart failure, or have had a heart attack and have very low blood pressure; you have asthma or Raynaud phenomenon; you are a child with diabetes or heart failure; you are currently taking mibefradil.

What Happens if I MISS A DOSE?

If you miss a dose of Generic Kerlone , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Any medication taken in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an Generic Kerlone overdose, seek medical attention immediately.
Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, especially when lying down; lightheadedness, especially upon standing; pale or blue skin; seizures (convulsions); shortness of breath; swelling of ankles; unconsciousness, possibly leading to lack of heartbeat or breathing; very slow heart rate; wheezing.

What are the possible SIDE EFFECTS of Generic Kerlone?

Generic Kerlone generally is well tolerated, and side effects usually are mild and transient. Rare side effects include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, dreaming, memory loss, fever, impotence, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, numbness, tingling, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath or wheezing.

Before taking Generic Kerlone, tell your doctor if you are using: allergy treatments (or if you are undergoing allergy skin-testing); clonidine (Catapres); guanabenz (Wytensin); an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), tranylcypromine (Parnate), phenelzine (Nardil), or selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam); a diabetes medication such as insulin, glyburide (Diabeta, Micronase, Glynase), glipizide (Glucotrol), chlorpropamide (Diabinese), or metformin (Glucophage); a heart medication such as nifedipine (Procardia, Adalat), reserpine (Serpasil), verapamil (Calan, Verelan, Isoptin), diltiazem (Cartia, Cardizem); medicine for asthma or other breathing disorders, such as albuterol (Ventolin, Proventil), bitolterol (Tornalate), metaproterenol (Alupent), pirbuterol (Maxair), terbutaline (Brethaire, Brethine, Bricanyl), and theophylline (Theo-Dur, Theolair); or cold medicines, stimulant medicines, or diet pills.

If you are using any of these drugs, you may not be able to take Generic Kerlone, or you may need dosage adjustments or special tests during treatment.
There may be other drugs not listed that can affect Generic Kerlone. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications you use. This includes vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by other doctors. Do not start using a new medication without telling your doctor.

Additional Information

Generic Kerlone can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert.
