ObelitCLASS and MECHANISM of Action Generic "Obelit" is a lipase inhibitor for obesity management.
It acts by interfering with your body's digestion of fat. One result is that you get diarrhea-like symptoms if you eat fatty foods. Most people quickly decide to cut out the fatty foods if they are taking orlistat, because they don't like the rushes to the bathroom and the soiled underwear. How Should I Take Generic "Obelit"? The recommended dose of Generic "Obelit" is one 120-mg capsule three times a day with each main meal containing fat (during or up to 1 hour after the meal). Because Generic "Obelit" has been shown to reduce the absorption of some fat-soluble vitamins and beta-carotene, patients should be counseled to take a multivitamin containing fat-soluble vitamins to ensure adequate nutrition. This medication is also contraindicated in women that are pregnant or breastfeeding a child. You may not take Generic "Obelit" if you have: an underactive thyroid; a history of pancreatitis; type 1 or type 2 diabetes; an eating disorder (anorexia or bulimia); if you take any other weight-loss medications (prescription or over-the-counter).
What Happens if I MISS A DOSE? Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, but no more than 1 hour after eating a meal. If later skip the dose and return to your usual schedule. Do not take double dose at once.
If you miss a meal, or if you have a meal without fat, you can skip your dose of orlistat for that meal also.
What happens if I OVERDOSE? If a significant overdose of Generic "Obelit" occur, it is recommended that the patient be observed for 24 hours.
What are the possible SIDE EFFECTS of Generic "Obelit"? Unfortunately Generic "Obelit" may cause some problems, like preventing your body's absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. What other drugs can INTERACT with Generic "Obelit"? You may not be able to use Generic "Obelit" if you are using any of the following drugs: cyclosporine (Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune); digoxin (digitalis, Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps); a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin); a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin).
