What is Generic "Paracetamol" PRESCRIBED For?
Generic "Paracetamol" is used to reduce pain like headache, muscle and joint pain, backache and period pains. It is also often included in cough, cold and flu remedies.
How Should I Take Generic "Paracetamol"?
The recommended dosage of Generic "Paracetamol" in adults is two 500mg tablets (i.e. 1gm paracetamol) every four to six hours, not exceeding eight tablets (4gms) in any 24 hour period (1). This dosage may be continued for several days. If pain relief is required for a longer period it should be with the supervision of a doctor.

Generic "Paracetamol" is contraindicated in patients with poor kidney function and to the persons that have alcohol dependence as taking both (alcohol and generic "Paracetamol") can harm the liver. The pregnant and breastfeeding women can take Generic "Paracetamol" only if the doctor agrees.
What Happens if I MISS A DOSE?
If the dose is less than 2 hours late - take the dose as soon as you remember and then take the next dose 4 hours after the missed dose. Doses of Generic "Paracetamol" must be at least 4 hours apart. If the dose is more than 2 hours late - omit the missed dose, wait until the next dose is due, and then continue as normal.
What happens if I OVERDOSE?
An overdose of Generic "Paracetamol" causes liver damage that, if not treated quickly, is very dangerous. If an overdose is suspected seek emergency attention immediately.
