What is Generic "Povidone Iodine" PRESCRIBED For?
Generic "Povidone Iodine" is prescribed for the treatment or prevention of infection in minor cuts and abrasions, minor surgical procedures and small areas of burns. It is also used for the treatment of fungal and bacterial skin infections and pyodermas and in the treatment of infections in decubitus and stasis ulcers (bedsores and leg ulcers).
How Should I Take Generic "Povidone Iodine"?
Use this medication exactly as indicated by your doctor. Clean the affected area. Apply a small amount of Generic "Povidone Iodine" Cream to the affected area. The area may be left uncovered, or you may cover it with a sterile bandage.
Generic "Povidone Iodine" should be stored at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
Keep the cream out of the reach of children and away from pets.

What Happens if I MISS A DOSE?
It is preferable to use Generic "Povidone Iodine" cream as many time as it was prescribed by your doctor. Try to follow the indicated time-table. However, if you missed a dose use it as soon as possible. If too much time passed, skip it and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Absorption of iodine from povidone iodine may interfere with thyroid function tests. Contamination with povidone iodine, of several types of test for the detection of occult blood in faeces or blood in urine may produce false positive results.

Thyroid function tests should be performed during prolonged use.
Do not use Generic "Povidone Iodine" over large areas of the body or for more than 1 week unless advised to do so by your doctor.
