CLASS and MECHANISM of Action

Generic "Pravachol" works by blocking the body's ability to make cholesterol. This medication can help lower blood cholesterol for patients who are at risk of getting heart disease or a stroke.

  • medicines to lower cholesterol or triglycerides (examples: cholestyramine, clofibrate, colestipol, fenofibrate, gemfibrozil, niacin)
  • itraconazole
  • cyclosporine
