CLASS and MECHANISM of Action

Generic "Precose" is an oral alpha-glucosidase inhibitor for use in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Take care to keep your blood sugar from getting too low, causing hypoglycemia. You may have hypoglycemia if you skip a meal, exercise too long, drink alcohol, or are under stress.
    Know the signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and how to recognize them:
  • seizure (convulsions);
  • sweating, fast heartbeat;
  • confusion, trouble concentrating;
  • drowsiness, dizziness;
  • headache, blurred vision;
  • hunger, weakness, nausea, irritability, tremors;
  • fainting, coma (severe hypoglycemia can be fatal).
If these symptoms occur, eat a quick source of sugar such as glucose liquid, orange juice, honey, or non-diet soda. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about the reaction. To help prevent hypoglycemia, eat meals on a regular schedule (do not skip meals).
