prevent osteoporosis in people taking oral corticosteroids.

How Should I Take Generic "Rocaltrol"?

Generic "Rocaltrol" is an oral medication. The dosage depend on the nature of your condition, the calcium level in your blood and your individual response to Generic "Rocaltrol". Commonly it is taken once a day or once every other day in the morning. This drug can be taken with or without food. Avoid to take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Remember that Generic "Rocaltrol" may help to control your condition but will not cure it.

What are the CONTRAINDICATIONS for taking Generic "Rocaltrol"?

have allergy to any other medicines, foods, dyes or preservatives,
have high levels of calcium in their blood (called hypercalcaemia),
have high levels of vitamin D in their blood,
are bedridden or in a wheelchair,
kidney disease,
vitamin D resistant rickets (familial hypophosphataemia),
have abnormal heartbeat.

Other conditions may also be a contraindication for using this medication. Make sure that your doctor knows all your medical history before prescribing you Generic "Rocaltrol".

What Happens if I MISS A DOSE?

If you forgot to take a dose and it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double dose to make up the missed one.

digoxin (Lanoxin)

corticosteroids taken by mouth or injection - prednisone, prednisolone, methylprednisolone, betamethasone, cortisone, dexamethasone, budesonide, hydrocortisone, fludrocortisone.
medicines or vitamin tablets containing vitamin D or calcium
if you are undergoing dialysis, antacids containing magnesium (e.g. Mylanta, Gastrogel, Gaviscon, Mucaine)
phenobarbital (Gardenal)
