Generic "Selsun" is antifungal preparation for topical application.
Selenium sulfide seems to have a cytostatic effect on cells of the epidermis and follicular epithelium, reducing corneocyte production.
Active Ingredients: Selenium sulfide
Inactive Ingredients: Bentonite, lauric diethanolamide, ethylene glycol monostearate, titanium dioxide, amphoteric-2, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium phosphate (monobasic), glyceryl monoricinoleate, citric acid, captan and perfume.

What is Generic "Brand Name" PRESCRIBED For?
Generic "Selsun" is prescribed for the treatment of dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis of scalp and tinea versicolor.
How Should I Take Generic "Brand Name"?
- For treatment of tinea versicolor:
- Apply to affected areas and lather with a small amount of water.
- Allow to remain on skin for 10 minutes.
- Rinse body thoroughly.
- Repeat this procedure once a day for 7 days.
- For treatment of dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp:
- Massage about 1 or 2 teaspoonfuls of shampoo into wet scalp.
- Allow to remain on scalp for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Rinse scalp thoroughly.
- Repeat application and rinse thoroughly.
- After treatment, wash hands well.
- Repeat treatments as directed by physician.
What are the CONTRAINDICATIONS for taking Generic "Brand Name"?
Generic "Selsun" is contraindicated in patients that are allergic to its ingredients. Make sure that your doctor knows all your medical history before prescribing you this medication.
What Happens if I MISS A DOSE?
Apply any missed dose as soon as possible but not if it is almost time for the next dose. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule.
What happens if I OVERDOSE?
If overdose of this medication happens seek the medical attention as soon as possible.
In case of acute oral ingestion of Generic "Selsun" is recommended evacuation of the stomach contents.
What are the possible SIDE EFFECTS of Generic "Brand Name"?
- Generic "Selsun" may cause
- skin irritation,
- dry skin,
- or in rare case hair loss.
What other drugs can INTERACT with Generic "Brand Name"?
