Generic Singulair is in a class of medications called leukotriene receptor antagonists (LTRAs). It works by blocking the action of substances in the body that cause the symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis. Use only a fast-acting inhalation medication to treat an asthma attack. Talk with your doctor if any of your asthma medications do not seem to work as well in treating or preventing asthma attacks. It may take up to several weeks of using this medicine before your symptoms improve. For best results, keep using Generic Singulair as directed. Talk with your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after several weeks of treatment.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next regularly scheduled dose as directed. Do not take a double dose of this medication.

In case of over dosage contact your doctor immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include: stomach pain, sleepiness, thirst, headache, vomiting, restlessness or agitation.

Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of these highly unlikely but serious side effects including: an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives); numbness, tingling, or pain; severe inflammation (pain and swelling) of the sinuses; or worsening respiratory symptoms; a rash or unexplained open sores or bruising; a flu-like illness.

Before using Generic Singulair, tell your doctor if you are using any of the following drugs:
phenobarbital (Luminal, Solfoton); or rifampin (Rifadin, Rifater, Rifamate, Rimactane).
