Generic Zofran is a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used mainly as an antiemetic to treat nausea and vomiting following chemotherapy. The first dose of Generic Zofran is usually taken 30 minutes before the start of chemotherapy, 1 to 2 hours before the start of radiation therapy, or 1 hour before surgery. Additional doses are sometimes taken one to three times a day during chemotherapy or radiation therapy and for 1 to 2 days after the end of treatment. If you suffer from phenylketonuria (an excess of the amino acid phenylalanine) remember that Generic Zofran contains this substance.

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:
• blurred vision or temporary blindness;
• fever;
• slow heart rate, trouble breathing;
• anxiety, agitation, shivering;
• feeling light-headed, fainting; or
• urinating less than usual or not at all.

Other less serious side effects are more likely to occur, such as:
• diarrhea or constipation;
• weakness or tired feeling;
• headache;
• dizziness or drowsiness;

Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
