Pharmacy remains open following crash12-Apr-2008 : Back on June 24, a truck crashed into the Subway restaurant that's located two doors down from the pharmacy in the Gleckner Building. The Subway was closed for several weeks following the accident as repairs were made. It reopened Aug. 8.
Now, in a figurative fashion, lightning appears to have struck twice. Around 1:45 p.m. on April 5, police responded to another call for a vehicle into a building. The vehicle struck Brown's Pharmacy, and police found a hole in the wall of the pharmacy at 47 Sullivan St. Police talked to the driver, a Canton juvenile, who wasn't hurt. He said he came from Canton High School, where he was competing in a track meet, and was going to Subway for something to eat. While pulling into the parking lot, he meant to apply the brakes but instead hit the gas pedal. His Ford Explorer jumped the curb, and struck the pharmacy. The juvenile backed up the Explorer into the parking lot and waited for police. Canton Police Chief Doug Seeley said charges are pending. Employees at the pharmacy Friday said it was still open for business. The area where the vehicle hit the building was boarded up, and a "Come in, we're open" sign was posted outside. "We're just boarded up around the actual site of the damage and working around it," Jennifer Cole, a pharmacist at the store, said. She said repair work will start Monday. "We will stay operational through that also," she said. John Brown, who owns the Gleckner Building, couldn't be reached for comment on Friday. He owns the pharmacy and is part owner of the Subway. Cole reflected on the incident. "It's just hard to comprehend how it could happen to one building, to have something so similar happen to the same building," she said. "You have to kind of laugh at it almost." Source: Towanda Daily Review
